FAQ
Questions people actually ask
If yours is not here, call or text 615-779-4975 and ask.
How long does a typical job take?
Most jobs run 3 to 7 days. It depends on the size of the project, how much prep the surfaces need, and — on exteriors — the weather. We give you a real schedule after the walkthrough rather than a guess over the phone.
Which sheen should I choose?
Going from least to most reflective: dead flat, flat, eggshell, eggshell ultra, satin, semi-gloss, and gloss. Flatter sheens hide wall imperfections but are harder to clean; glossier sheens wipe down easily and show every ripple. Most people land on eggshell for walls and semi-gloss for trim. We will walk through it with you.
What do you use on trim and doors?
A waterborne acrylic-alkyd hybrid in semi-gloss for most trim — it levels out like an oil paint but cleans up with water and does not yellow. Where adhesion is the worry, such as previously coated or slick surfaces, we use Enamelex bonding enamel.
What paint do you use?
Farrell-Calhoun, a family-owned company making paint in Tennessee since 1905. It is mixed for our climate, and most of what we use is low-VOC.
How long before I can wash the walls?
Give it about two weeks. Paint is dry to the touch within hours but keeps curing and hardening well after that. Washing too early can burnish or mar the finish.
What if I want to change the color partway through?
That is fine, with one caveat: once the paint has been purchased, a color change means buying new paint and paying for the labor to recoat. We would rather sort the color out with samples before anything is opened.
Are you insured?
Yes, fully insured through Hiscox.
Do I need to be home while you work?
No. Plenty of our clients are at work during the day. We will agree on access ahead of time, and we will tell you which rooms are out of commission on which days.
What areas do you serve?
Greater Nashville and the surrounding area. If you are not sure whether you are in range, call or text and ask.
How do payment and deposits work?
A deposit starts the contract and reserves your spot on the schedule. The final payment is due when the work is complete. Once a deposit is paid or paint has been purchased, that portion is non-refundable.
